Harald Grillhiesl is the boss of the small tuning shop, MMW. He has made a name for himself producing tuning cylinder heads on the mainland European scene. Hardly anyone knows their way around squish bands, compression ratios and combustion chambers like he does. The MMW cylinder heads are produced precisely engineered, with exact angles and a very clean gasket surface area. Years of experience, modifying hundreds -if not thousands- of cylinder heads, is shown in the obvious high quality of these items.

The basis for the PX200 MMW cylinder head is the standard original PIAGGIO part. The combustion chamber is re-milled with a CNC process and so receives a new profile layout. This is designed for an improved relation to the shape of the piston crown, as well as a better fit to the following cylinders bore diameters: MALOSSI Road and Race, POLINI, PINASCO, POLOSSI, and the original PIAGGIO cylinder. We also have long stroke crankshaft cylinder heads available for most cylinder kits so eliminating the need for time consuming experimentation with varying gasket thickness's. Consequently an ideal cylinder head is available for virtually all motor setups. Some come supplied with an O-ring gasket as necessary. Knocking and pinking, those dreaded sounds announcing an imminent heat seizure or worse, is eliminated with the use of this cylinder head model. That is, if the reason for your seizure was an incorrect compression ratio...

Conclusion: Higher performance, knocking and pinking eliminated and a more enduring motor, what more could you wish for?

SIP-TIP: Do not forget to order new spark plugs, base and head gaskets as well as pack-up plates to fit this cylinder head kit.

We have a large variety of cylinder heads available, to suit even the strongest cylinder. All 69mm bore diameter cylinder heads in our range fit straight onto the MALOSSI 210cc, the POLINI 208cc and also the POLINI cylinder with the MALOSSI piston AKA the 'POLOSSI'. For a more exact piston crown edge clearance, or squish, to be achieved we also have a range of cylinder heads available tailored exactly for use with each of the above mentioned cylinder kit assemblies.

The '57mm' cylinder heads are meant for use with 57mm stroke crankshafts. If you have a crankshaft with a 60mm stroke you will also require a cylinder base plate spacer or pack-up plate. The '60mm' cylinder heads are meant again, specifically for crankshafts that have a stroke of 60mm, this also means that the use of a pack-up plate is no longer necessary. When the cylinder has been put firmly in place over the piston it should stand clear of the barrel by 1.5 mm. The initial squish clearance is therefore 2.7mm. The effective squish band clearance is in combination with this specific cylinder head then 1.2 mm.

The cylinder head we have available for the POLOSSI cylinder assembly enables a lower compression ratio to be achieved than the cylinder head conceived for the MALOSSI 210cc kit, which makes them a welcome alternative for motors suffering from pinking, knocking and the inherent complications which can lead to overheating and piston seizure. The use of high performance expansion chamber exhaust systems such as those produced by DSE or Scooter & Service can only accelerate this destructive process of rapid overheating and subsequent engine failure when your motor is incorrectly setup.

The original POLINI 208cc cylinder kit used to be delivered with a piston that only had one piston ring, before they upgraded to a two-ring piston. We have cylinder heads available for both POLINI 208cc kits. We only have 57mm cylinder heads available, so far, for the newer POLINI aluminium 210cc kit so a pack-up plate will be required if you wish to use this kit in combination with a 60mm stroke crankshaft.
