A stroke of genius from the British Isles: The first performance expansion chamber exhaust system with European certification! SIP and the Derbyshire based exhaust manufacturer SCORPION have aligned their respective fields of competence to create a full blown lefthand exit expansion chamber system with certified approval according to the European standard, E4. SIP delivered the specifications and standard expected and SCORPION made sure of the production, testing and homologation process. The result is a voluminous expansion chamber with a great sound and real power potential and all this, with an intact decibel restrictor of course, perfectly EU legal.
The EU approved SCORPION performance expansion chamber system is produced using corrosion free stainless steel. The required reduction in noise (and performance) level is achieved through the use of a restrictor welded into the exhaust manifold. While this item is in place the expansion chamber system cannot function properly, so do not expect any immediate difference in power output after fitting with the restrictor intact. If though, it is removed, the exhaust pipe loses its EU approved legality but rewards with a greatly improved rev range and a noticeabe increase in performance. The SCORPION has a very wide power delivery band. Even OE PIAGGIO 200cc cylinders rev cleanly and evenly through to rev ranges of up to 10000rpm. A comfortably satisfying sound rounds the whole package off. If the silencer wool becomes soggy with oil due to your carb. setup or burnt away because of long hard motorway use this exhaust system, like any other, becomes distinctly louder. To renew the silencer wool on the SCORPION system the silencer can be removed and of course safely remounted! Power gains of between 2-3 PS can be achieved over a more conventional road tune exhaust, such as the SITO plus, in combination with a non ported MALOSSI 210cc cylinder kit setup including a racing crankshaft, re-jetted DELLORTO SI 24mm carb. and moderate port timings. For high end maximum power motor setups equipped with all the suitable peripheral devices, top speeds of up to 150 km/h (90mph) are within reach combined with a fat torque delivery and at least 28 PS measured at the rear wheel.
The SCORPION performance expansion chamber system allows normal use of your OE PIAGGIO main stand, the continued transportation of a spare-wheel and even the fitting of wider section tyres. The EU certification only applies in combination with the VESPA PX/T5 models.

The wide power band delivery ensures the true potency of every racing cylinder can be effectively exploited, combined with a race-like sound and the eye-catching voluminous expansion chamber design. All this, considering the decibel restrictor is still intact :-), EU approved and certified.

Carburettor jetting and ignition timing should be checked and/or adjusted for reliable and enduring use of this exhaust system.
SIP-TIP: In combination with 139-177cc kits a larger DELLORTO SI carb. of 24mm and a taller transmission ratio are necessary for a more harmonious and optimised set up. Near standard OE PIAGGIO 200cc cylindered motor set ups will require a main jet at least 10 sizes larger for the OE DELLORTO SI 24mm carb. along with a stronger clutch system and last but not least a longer stroke crankshaft. With a powerful cylinder kit such as POLINI or MALOSSI, a modern flat slide carb (or similar) of 32mm or more, MMW reed valve manifold, a LPC crankshaft, a taller transmission ratio and an improved ignition assembly (VESPATRONIC, PARMAKIT) you will have all the fun, ahead of the pack!
