Last weekend, the event of the year took place at the Nürburgring – the "SAWE" Scooterweekend 2011!
As usual, friday was the general arrival day. Crowds of people (who all had their scoots with them) set up their tents for the next couple of days.
After a boozed night, the pilgrimage from campsite to racetrack started early on saturday morning. There was a lot going on at the event area. Alongside the circuit for the scooters, there was also a customshow, a stunt area, a couple of dynos and hot girls who performed in a 'Sexy Scooter Wash'. Speedfactory's Michael Mocker provided the event with spare parts.
The final race of the DSSC season 2011 took place, too. The pilots were able to race right in the middle of the pit lane, where usually only formula1 cars are admitted. Roughly 160 DSSC racers had signed up for the different classes. Much to the chagrin of the German DSSC members, also a number international participants (from the Netherlands, Italy and Denmark) had registered and delivered top times. For example a 6.3052 in the Topclass-Spriter-Class. Danish rider Jesper Pedersen drove the day's best time (5.9543) in the outlaw class.
But this changes only little within the overall standings 2011.
Our streetteam pilot Christian Busch (STN) drove his kitted runner on the third place of the outlaws (behind Tobias Freytag with his Stage12 and Alexander Burgard of Maxiscoot). Thomas Ludwig of the 4-Stroke Crew Germany finished on the 2nd place in the 4-stroke class and Malossi pilot Sebastian Bauch finally managed to win the title in the Topclass-Sprinter class.
After the races and the framework programm, we relaxed a bit, to be in shape for the burnout contest at 9pm, the award ceremony at 10pm and the after-race-party till late.
A major downer for the SIP TV team: we were not allowed to report from there. Of course, the event is organised by the Scooter Weekend GmbH (=Scooter Attack) and they probably think it makes sense that only they broadcast from their event in order to prevent anyone else from making any profit with it. Thing is, you don't 'profi' from a blog or a video. It rather means a lot of effort and costs. We think every event could do with different reports and in the end the whole scene profits from reports via different channels. We don't think, a SIP TV clip would have take anything from anyone. So it's a pity for the channel and also a pity for you, who can only watch Streetbuzz now and nothing else.
