Imola 2007: the race track is calling, the Motodrom is located right in the heart of the city.

What is usually considered the exclusive playground of drivers like Alonso and his fellow Formula One competitors these days turned into a meeting of motorbike and car afficionados from all over Europe.

The nearly 5km of the race track once again were home to Italy’s largest oldtimer market, leaving the area covered with both used as well as new spare parts fitting all makes and models.

Like every year, Vespa friends and dealers paid the race track a visit to stock up on spare parts and scooters for the coming winter months.

Adrenaline levels already hit record heights during the early morning hours as the hunt for the ultimate bargain begins. The levels won’t start to sink until the end of the day.  

However, it seems that the excessive consumer behavior of many Brits and Germans went to the Italians’ heads as they charge 1000 Euros right now even for the most worthless pile of scrap. Despite this fact, we can only recommend a personal visit of this huge market to everybody. It is still easily possible to return from Imola with a sunburn during a season where a pullover will just keep you warm enough in our latitudes. Compared with the Oldtimer market in Ulm, Imola is warmer, nicer and more expensive.
