SIP AID: Scooterists help!

Why are some people dwelling in poverty while we are so well off? famine, homelessness or floods while we have everything that we need. We, the staff at SIP Scootershop, got a job that we really like, we got enough leisure time to work on our scooters and there is even enough money left over for a pizza and a beer all the time. We were all deeply affected by pictures of the tsunami in Asia at the beginning of 2005 so we spontaneously decided to donate some money. This was the moment when the idea of „SIP-Aid“ was born.

What is it all about? We are willing to donate a part of our earnings to charitable organizations and invite you to participate. We donate on a regular basis a considerable amount to the SOS Childrensvillage, Arche or the Red Cross, just to name a few. Further down on this page we are publishing some of the donations we make.

Why the SOS Kinderdorf / sos-childrensvillages? As the name SOS Kinderdorf suggests: here girls and boys who can not grow up in their own parents’ house find a new home. Children live there with their Kinderdorf mother and siblings in a house – permanently and round the clock. There is play, laughter, argument and celebration just like in an average family. This is of special importance to the children who often arrive at a SOS Kinderdorf with painful experiences. Here they again find people with whom to build long-term and trusting relationships and who offer reliability and security.

SOS Kinderdorf / sos-childrensvillages - a network of social help. Apart from the Kinderdorf families, lots of additional facilities have developed in the SOS Kinderdorf projects over the years: child and youth living communities for short-term and medium-term admission of children in emergency situations, day care housing for children from the neighbourhood, educational and employment measures, day care centres for children and get-togethers for the youth. All of these offers form important parts of an integrated SOS Kinderdorf program and build a secure basis for the best possible everyday living conditions for children, youths and their families. The SOS Kinderdorf e.V. finances 125 SOS projects in 46 countries all over the world in which more than 20.000 children, youths and adolescents are being cared for. SOS Kinderdorf in Germany gets 50! Why Arche? L’Arche operates in many countries all around the world with a shared aim: To build communities that are willing to include people with an intellectual disability. People with and without disabilities share their daily lives in one house. Every member of the household community has their own room. They cook together and share their meals. Housekeeping is teamwork, too. In Landsberg an Arche house was opened in 2001. Currently 12 people are living there. For more info please visit:

SOS Director Christoph Rublack (center) was very happy and there are already some urgent measures that they can now tackle with the donation. January 2014 – SIP Scootershop supports Humanitarian Aid reg. Ch.

One of the projects of Humanitarian Aid reg. Ch. is the reconstruction of a hospital in Ndoungue, Cameroon and its development into a reference center. The project manager Dr. med. Soeren Gatz used to work as an assistant medical director at the Klinikum Landsberg am Lech. In Ndoungue, the project is led by Dr. François Marie Djomou Touomo, who visited Germany in January and shared deep insights into the project with us. SIP Scootershop decided to support Humanitarian Aid reg. Ch. not only financially (5.500 €), but also with manpower and logistics. Urgently needed material – such as hospital beds, mattresses, medical instruments and clothes - had to be shipped to Cameroon. No sooner said than done. On Friday, 17 Jan 2014 a SIP delegation helped to load the container and prepare it for the shipment to West Africa.

December 2013 – SIP Scootershop donates 3.000 € to the ARCHE

As in the previous years, the Landsberg based mail order specialist for scooter parts SIP Scootershop GmbH has donated € 3000.- to the ARCHE Landsberg. On Dec 17, 4 members of the SIP staff paid a visit to the flat sharing community in Landsberg to hand over the cheque. Here’s a short report: „When we arrived at the ARCHE in the afternoon, a richly laden coffee table was waiting for us. We had the opportunity to chat with residents and members of staff and were provided with interesting insights into the work and history of the organization. The ARCHE is a global organization that installs communities of disabled persons. After we had finished our coffee and cake, some of the residents played on their instruments and performed an Indian song for us. Then we were shown around the house and the rooms of the residents. We were very impressed with the conception of the ARCH, as well as with the amazing cooperation between staff, volunteers and residents.“

June 2013 - SIP Scootershop funds SOS-Children’s Village’s trip to Finland

July, 2, 2013. The SOS-Children’s Village Dießen is cheering: Thanks to a €4.000.- donation of SIP Scootershop the boys and girls will be able to travel to Finland and meet their friends. They got to know each other last year, when the Finnish kids were on their way to the SOS-holiday village Caldonazzo and stopped by at the Ammersee to spend one night in the Mosaik house. SOS-area director Christoph Rublack (3. from left) is not only very happy about the donation (that will also help to realize further leisure activities), but also about SIP Scootershop’s continuous support. The Landsberg based company (which currently employs 70 members of staff) has been closely connected to the Children’s Village since 2005. This time (from left) Oliver Schmuck, Jarly Surivong, Hansjörg Dahmen, Ernst Gareis and Stefan Bressel paid a visit to the institution in Dießen and were very interested in the boys‘ and girls‘ daily routine at the Children’s Village.

Oktober 2012 – SIP Scootershop donates € 3.000 to l'Arche

Once again SIP Scootershop donated €3.000,00 to ARCHE Landsberg. Just like last year, some members of SIP staff visited the residents of the local ARCHE and were cordially received there. In the afternoon they enjoyed coffee and cake and learned more about the ARCHE Landsberg, the people who live there and upcoming projects… Afterwards the SIP team had a chance to see the newly designed garden and bicycle parking spaces that were enabled by SIP’s donation of last year.

SIP Scootershop trusty sponsor for seven straight years

The most trusty regional sponsors of the SOS Childrens’ Village are from Landsberg: since 2005 SIP Scootershop donates one Euro for every online order they receive through their webshop to the SOS Childrens’ Village in Dießen. All in all, the donations now amount to 35,700 Euro. Their latest visit brought staff members Sylvia Legath, Antonio Bruno, Stefanie Barth and Manuela Jurack with Leonie to the village where they were able to hand over a cheque worth 4,000 to SOS area manager Christoph Rublack.

November 2011 - SIP Scootershop supports L'Arche Landsberg

Once again SIP Scootershop was able to donate € 3.000,- to the local Arche in Landsberg. A small SIP delegation was warmly welcomed by the Arche residents. The SIP staff was shown round the building, then everybody had some tasty homemade cake and coffee. Stefan (sitting, 2nd left) performed a lovely song on his tuba.

The donation will be used for the redesign of the garden, for covered bicycle parking and a barbecue area. Also the staircase is still in need of renovation. And maybe the SIP staff will be invited to the next barbecue party to celebrate with the Arche residents in their newly designed garden...

August 2011 - Donation and raffle at summer festival of SOS Children’s Village

Dießen. The boys and girls of local SOS Children’s Village gave (rear from left) Benny Gerum, Joscha Blank and Pierre Pahr from SIP Scootershop in Landsberg a warm welcome when they visited their annual summer festival. As a “longterm and faithful sposor” (SOS Children’s Village regional manager Christoph Rublack, rear right), they handed over a check over 4,000 Euro which will be used to build the new house “Mosaic” (in the background). In turn the children took the opportunity of the summer festival to campaign for children of the same age who currently suffer from the drought in Somalia: the Children’s Village family of Ute Starck started an initiative so every family collected puzzles, cassettes as well as vases and books which served as prizes in a raffle comprising close to 300 lots. All proceeds were donated towards SOS Children’s Village in Africa. SIP Scootershop regularly donates towards SOS Children’s Village since a couple of years.

March 2011: SIP Scootershop donates 500 € for the victims of earthquake and tsunami in Japan The events unfolding in Japan after the horrible earthquake and the tsunami as well as the disaster that struck the nuclear power plant are breathtaking. It is hard to imagine the worries and problems of the people affected by these events. The SIP Scootershop team donated 500 € to the japanese Red Cross. Also we founded the Facebook group „Scooterists support Japan after Earthquake“ and show Japanese scooterists and the whole Japanese people that our thoughts and prayers are with them.

November 2010 – S.I.P. Scootershop donates € 3.000 to l'Arche

Everybody at L’Arche Landsberg was very happy to welcome Alex Barth and Ralf Jodl, the managing directors of SIP Scootershop, who had come to present the house-sharing community of people with and without mental disabilities with a €3000.- check on the occasion of the renovation of L’Arche’s aged house on Erpftinger Straße. SIP’s noble donation is a more than welcome help, because the renovation was very costly but also necessary and will definitely prove to be a sustained success. SIP Scootershop is happy to be able to contribe to the improvement of the Arche-community’s living conditions.

They presented the SOS Children’s Village with a € 2.700.- check, that was supposed to make the long standing wish for selfmade huts and a boathouse come true. SOS-Division manager Christoph Rublack (2. right) says that SIP Scootershop was one of the most faithful local supporters of the SOS-Children’s Village and contributed with every online order.

December 2009 - Scootershop is a faithful patron of the SOS-children's village

Dießen. The SOS children’s village Ammersee has found a faithful and committed patron in SIP Scootershop: this is already the fifth time that the emerging mailorder shop for scooter spare parts has decided to support the boys and girls financially – with a donation of 5,000 Euro. The company, which celebrated its 15th year of existence this year, began as a start-up in the garage of Walter Barth (left), the father of one of the company’s two CEOs. Accompanied by (from right) Mario Ott (Shipping), Christian Seidl with daughter Lena (Key Account, Events and Call Center) and Otto Wermescher (Incoming Goods), Mr Barth handed over a check to area manager Christoph Rublack. The curious visitors went on a guided tour through the village where they came to see the “Sonnenhaus”. The donation will be used to renovate this house

December 2008 - Young mailorder shop showing social responsibility

SIP Scootershop from Landsberg/Germany is a company that is showing its commitment to fulfilling its social responsibility. For four years now, the mailorder shop for scooter spare parts has been donating one Euro for every online order received through their webshop to the child care organization SOS Kinderdorf e.V. located at the neighbouring town of Dießen. SOS area manager Christoph Rublack expressed his “sincere enthusiasm” about this commitment which led to another 5000 Euro being donated to the organization’s local child care center this year. The shop had already equipped the center’s soccer team with a brand-new set of jerseys this summer. Proudly sporting their new gear, the team has successfully participated at the German Kinderdorf cup. Mr Rublack received the cheque from the hands of Tina Ossenberg (incoming goods department), Kathi Struwe (purchase department), Margarete Müller, Katharina Weigand (both shipping department), Britta Herfort (customer service/left to right) and little Juli. In return, the team was able to participate in a guided tour of the child care center and went home with lots of interesting facts about the work that is done there.

Diessen. For the past year, the Landsberg online mail order firm, SIP Scootershop, has contributed one Euro for each online order of Vespa products for the Diessen SOS Kinderdorf at Ammersee. This is the second time the Landsberg firm donated 5,000 € to the charitable organization; last year SIP Scootershop donated the same amount to SOS Kinderdorf.

SIP Scootershop owners, Ralf Jodl and Alexander Barth, announced their contribution plan will become a permanent fixture of their company. "We are grateful to be doing well and we want to share with those who are less fortunate," said the two.

Christoph Rublack, area director of SOS Kinderdorf, Diessen, was overjoyed: "We are very grateful for SIP Scootershop's engagement", Rublack said, as the check was presented. Plans for the donation have already been made: the SOS Kinderdorf is presently renovating a building to house another Kinderdorf family. The first contribution has already been used for renovations; the additional sum is earmarked for a new chimney and a proper wood burning stove. "The Kinderdorf family", said Rublack, "plans to lower heating costs by using wood as a low priced fuel alternative, and wood is a renewable fuel source." An additional aspect is, wood ovens radiate warmth and comfort, highly appreciated by both children and adults.

September 2005 – – SIP Scootershop übergibt 5000-€-Spende:

Starting in spring 2005, Landsberg-based mailorder shop for Vespa and scooter spare parts SIP Scootershop has donated € 1,- to SOS-Kinderdorf Germany [child care organization] for every online order it received. By now, a considerable amount of € 5,000 has accumulated and could be handed over to the SOS-Kinderdorf Germany.

The company has been actively supporting community projects for years – now it had decided to give a helping hand to the SOS-Kinderdorf project. According to the two owners of the company, Ralf Jodl and Alexander Barth, this decision was based on the fact that SOS-Kinderdorf provides a home for many young people, and the youth is prominently represented among the scooter company’s clients. Moreover, as Jodl pointed out while the donation was presented, SOS-Kinderdorf is a community project that is active in all parts of the world – and by now lots of orders for spare parts are received from abroad.

The owners both agreed that “[we] are lucky enough to live in a stable and secure personal environment – we are well off and would like to share this good fortune with others who have to fight harder for their well-being”. According to SOS-Kinderdorf area manager Christoph Rublack the amount will be used to continue the upcoming extension of a family house: “This considerable investment can only be sustained with the help of both individuals as well as companies that offer financial support”. Within the converted family house, which is to be completed as of mid-2006, six children, who are not able to live with their real parents, will live together as a family with a SOS-Kinderdorf mother. Rublack gave sincere thanks to the donators for their commitment while they, in turn, decided to even extend the help: plans are being drawn up to carry on the support project on a permanent basis. SIP Scootershop has also featured SOS-Kinderdorf on its website.
