The 200cc PX motor provides THE ideal basis for all VESPA large or wide frame tuning projects. A tuned PX 200 motor equipped with a MALOSSI 210cc cylinder, a 60mm stroke crankshaft and a SIP 'Road' exhaust system provides you with a cruising speed of 110 km/h (almost 70mp/h) and a potential top end speed of up to 125km/h (almost 80mp/h). All the SIP touring VESPA's are equipped with tuned PX 200 motors which make our annual tours, with an average of 2500 km (over 1600 mls.) in five days possible, which proves that you can visit surrounding countries on older VESPA models without serious problems with reliability. The Austrian and German tuning scenes have shown that power outputs of up to 40 PS and more are possible, without the use of nitrous injection. The basis though, remains the PX 200 motor, making it the premium VESPA motor of all geared VESPA models. Everyone should have one at home, even if you put it on the mantelpiece.
Regrettably PIAGGIO no longer produce the PX 200 motor, despite the fact that we were persistent in our efforts, over many channels, to urge them to reverse this decision, we were close to resignation. This all changed though as in 2010 we became the official MALOSSI importers for Germany and we were presented with a new, exciting opportunity... MALOSSI now produce these crankcases after consulting PIAGGIO for official approval. The MALOSSI version has the exact dimensions and specification as the OE PIAGGIO item but with an even better high quality casting process. All recesses such as the porting channels and the carburettor inlet are precision CNC machined. All vibration damper rubbers are included and installed. Every single casing unit then undergoes the exacting MALOSSI quality control process to be sure of minimal production tolerances for bearing surfaces etc. being maintained.
Conclusion: In the end these motor cases are still OE PIAGGIO but with an extra touch of high end quality provided by MALOSSI.
SIP-TIP : Do not forget to order new oil seals, a gasket set, bearings and all relevant peripheral items for safe and enduring use of your newly assembled motor. The oil pump and electric starter recesses may also require sealing. Last but not least, fresh gearbox oil is also more than a good idea.
While preparing your engine for use with a performance cylinder and/or the manifold of a reed valve assembly the transfer and inlet ports will require machining, filing and polishing to be effectively compatible. To complete this successfully a lot of knowledge, experience and suitable workshop facilities are necessary. If this option is not available to you we have suitably modified crankcases available, with the cost of the modifications included in the price. The basis for these modified crankcases are the newly reproduced MALOSSI items, reworked by a trusted local tuning workshop. Their many years of tuning experience are reflected in the high quality of the finished product that they consistently deliver.
The EVO crankcases are modified as follows: Crankcases are enlarged by welding around the transfer port area which are then machined and shaped to match both the Worb5 MALOSSI 210 and their similarly reworked POLINI 208 cylinder. The fuel inlet area has also been increased by adding material to the clutch side of the crank housing through welding and then polished to match the MMW 2 reed valve manifold assembly, the oil pump opening has been welded shut along with the rear wheels oil seal lubrication hole.
Conclusion : True Plug and Play, machine workshop ade!
