The replacement performance exhaust systems, produced by the Italian firm MIVV since 1970, should be familiar to all fans of motorised two wheeled sport. They have not only made a name for themselves in the production of aftermarket systems however, as their success in various areas of motor sport prove. The experience in racing flows into their product development and the firms philosophy "From the boxes of the top teams to the garage behind your house" underlines. The fact that major manufacturers such as Yamaha, Aprilia or Ducati Factory fit MIVV produced systems is testament to their quality.
The “Speed Edge Black Series” was developed with the design of Motocross and MotoGP exhaust systems as a source of inspiration. According to the manufacturers this affects the performance of the individual vehicle noticeably. The silencer is made of steel and later decorated by powder-coating, the firms logo is riveted to its flank and is presented a subdued style. The optical highlights are provided by the carbon fibre end-cap and fixing bracket. The silencer wool is made of a textured material mix, that is durable and heat resistant, as well as being able to absorb enough noise to qualify for EU type approval. Removal of the dB-Killer makes this exhaust unsuitable for road use.
The design of both the silencer and downpipe are responsible for the promised performance increase. The downpipe manifold is produced using stainless steel and includes a lambda sensor attachment facility as part of its design. The silencer is connected to the downpipe using springs, which help absorb vibration and avoids cracking or splitting to either part.
The choice of materials used in its construction has also led to a considerable reduction in weight when compared to the original item.
Contrary to many exhaust pipes in this price segment the MIVV systems are additionally emission tested, making them fully legal for universal road use.
