All control cables require regular maintenance. The job itself is relatively simple and with the correct choice of lubricants can be sorted in a jiffy. The use of motor or fuel oil however does more harm than good as they gum the innards easily (killing PX speedo cables).
Ideally a water repellent, such as WD-40, can be used thanks to their excellent penetration properties. We advise however that these products are not suitable for use with Teflon (PTFE) lined cables! Specific PTFE sprays are available and highly recommended! An easy way to free cables from foreign substances is through the use of a suitable brake cleaner which can then be quickly lubricated with the use of this cable lubricator attachment. Easy in use with a guaranteed top result.
SIP-TIP: Do not forget to order a suitable lubricant spray and some brake cleaning liquid!
