The Hartz4 clutch is the small frame motor equivalent: A 4 plate motorcycle style clutch.
The original clutch that the small frame motors are equipped with have three friction plates. The higher performance clutch plate combinations have separation problems due to a lack of space for their extra plates. The Hartz4 clutch solves this problem through the use of a sintered clutch friction plate surfacing that is produced using a special mix of materials and have more grooves to channel excess motor oil away from the fiction plate contact area.
The improved oil channelling raises the thermal range of the clutch, the thinner and tougher friction plate surfacing keep the separation distances lower, ensuring cleaner separation in all situations. The higher thermal resistance also ensures a more constant release point of the clutch and a consequent better definition. Due to the fourth extra friction plate and the increased width of the frictional areas, the torque delivery is noticeably more direct and also more powerful.
This clutch has established itself through extensive development on the ESC and DBM race series successfully in combination with motor setups of 30 PS or even more. Depending on your models crankcase and driveshaft assembly your clutch may require an extra 2mm thick spacer washer.

High End Clutch
A CNC milled clutch basket made of extremely robust tempered steel, 4 sintered friction plates, 3 plain plates, 10 clutch springs at PKXL2 grade stiffness “L”, includes primary drive repair kit and 1mm spacer gasket for the clutch cover.
SIP-TIP: A new woodruff key, clutch nut and locking washers are a must for tuned motors. Do not forget gearbox oil (SAE30 or even SAE80W90 for the carbon-fibre friction plates) for an overnight soak before assembly!
