To satisfy the needs of all the “high-tech” fans and performance hungry amongst us SIP have also developed an improved, precision CNC milled clutch basket for the COSA II clutch assembly system. This conversion kit is very good value-for-money enabling the inclusion of a CNC milled basket in the more moderate engine tuning projects.
The basket is machined from a solid aluminium alloy block and is hardened using a nitration process for added durability. The groove around the inner circumference of the basket for the clutch assembly circlip has been slightly redesigned for a tighter fit and the overall weight has also been reduced with surplus material being removed. The interior of the clutch basket, designed developed and produced exclusively for SIP, has 16 clutch spring recesses so that the 8 or 16 springs from the COSA II clutch type assembly can be used. The rivets have also been specially produced for this unit, with grooves for ease assembly and an anti corrosive treatment. Due to this we can keep this item at an affordably low price, coupled with the use of the highest quality materials.
SIP-TIP: Due to the larger size of this clutch basket conversion, a clutch gasket surface area spacer or modification to the clutch cover is necessary. A strengthened clutch cluster assembly circlip is also necessary.
SIP community user Lukas, SIP team on Art.-Nr.93400000: “I had one of the first baskets produced under heavy and constant use during the SIP Tuscany trip 2011 with about 2000 km in 6 days. Whether we were abusing the clutches up the 'Stilfserjoch' mountain pass, full throttle on the motorway or even quarter miling: The clutch did its job without complaining or failing, as opposed to other clutch setups which couldn't handle the pace...”
