Due to the higher number of revolutions per minute and therefore greater centrifugal forces created by performance enhanced motor set ups, the original clutch baskets tend to open up at higher motor speeds and fly apart with almost always disastrous results, in terms of what occurs within your engines crankcase when the contents of the clutch are distributed throughout the gearbox...To help prevent this happening we have clutch baskets with outer reinforcement rings. The ring itself is produced by sectioning pre welded tubing for added strength and is then welded in position around the clutch basket. This makes it almost impossible for the clutch basket to open up at high revs and the clutch circlip, which holds the whole clutch cluster together, remains in place.
We recommend slight modification to the clutch plates before fitting to avoid them catching on the reinforcement ring. Just simply take a small metal file and smooth them off a little!
