The monocoque chassis of the Vespa was revolutionary at its time of introduction and was quickly established as the defining feature of every model of Vespa produced since. The more ancient scooters around today often have twisted frames from past accident-damage, have rusted through in certain places or have suffered the attentions of angle grinder 'customisers'.
There is only one realistic solution to these problems – a brand new chassis! Regrettably, PIAGGIO no longer produce frames for any of their previously available Vespa models apart from that of the later PX range. Due to the fact that top quality frame parts for these remaining models (such as sidepanels, mudguards and replacement frame panels) have been in production for a while, it was only a matter of time until some alternative replacement frames would also become available. These frames are assembled and welded together using exactly the same type of frame construction jigs used on the original PIAGGIO production lines.
Once again, (almost) all smallframe chassis types are back!
Vespa 50 1°/ S 1° / 90 1° : The shorter frame type with smaller sidepanels, square emblem, smaller fuel tank and floorboards.
Vespa 50 S 2° : The shorter frame with larger sidepanels, square emblem.
Vespa 50 2° / L / R / S 2° / 90 2° : The longer frame with larger sidepanels.
Vespa 50 SS 90 SS : Immediately identifiable and an ideal basis for an SS model conversion or replica project!
Vespa 125 / PV / ET-3 : The longer frame with larger sidepanels and the left sidepanel hatch. VMA and PV 1° models require the steering lock and floor runners from the PV / ET-3 models.
Notice: All of these frames are delivered without a frame number or VIN. The number from the original frame must be stamped into the replacement frame BEFORE it can legally be used on the open road! Due to the low prices of these replacement frames it is impossible to deliver them free of charge. This service costs 70 Euros to addresses within Germany.
