Decayed wiring harnesses are bad news. Electronic problems are pre-programmed; broken cables, cold solder spots and short circuits through defect cables - ending in ignition gaps or worse, cable fires. In cases such as these, we recommend changing the wiring harness, patching the old one up, seldom if at all, makes things better. In Italy, Alex (on tour with his Blue Racer) sat on the side of the strada, (twice!) out in the middle of the prairie with defect electronics (with no tools on board). Try finding out which cable is defunct under those conditions.....
Meanwhile it’s been getting harder to find wiring harnesses of decent quality for some Vespa models. That’s why we’ve had a select of few harnesses manufactured for those hard to find models. Wirings with a special mark next to it, a circle with a star inside of it, may be more expensive, but they are absolute complete and high quality. Who wants more?
