The MALOSSI 210cc cylinders are the undisputed kings amongst the performance kits available for largeframe Vespa models. With the 'Sport' version for touring orientated projects and the 'MHR' type for the power hungry, MALOSSI have the perfect solution available for every need. Both versions offer almost everything that you could require for your largeframe Vespas motor: An excellent production quality, tough endurance properties and perhaps most importantly, almost unlimited power potential! If you really want to see what your Vespas motor is capable of there's no way round the famous 210cc cylinders from MALOSSI! High-quality aluminium casting process, a hard wearing nicasil bore-lining, enormous transfer ports and potent channel dimensioning add up to result in a thermally stable, reliable performance cylinder. The patented MALOSSI CVF II system, combined with a solid piston construction optimally supply the combustion area of the cylinder with fresh fuel charge and guarantees the high mileage potential of this kit. The main differences between the two cylinder kit types are found in the dimensions of the exhaust port and the overall port timings. The effect of these two lay-outs is that the 'MHR' version increases the amount of rpm available, the 'Sport' is more torque orientated. Due to the fact that very high-revving motors are not really suitable for touring set-ups, MALOSSI have made an almost identical cylinder available, in the form of the not so high-revving 'Sport'. Regardless of the differing states of potential performance, MALOSSI recommend the use of our very own SIP fast flow fuel tap for both kits!
The 'Sport' version of the MALOSSI 210cc kit received an update in 2016 and is officially known as the 'Sport 2016'. This slightly revised set-up now includes a special outer surface coating which leads to an improved cooling of the whole cylinder. Another novelty is found in the replacement of the ASSO piston for one produced by VERTEX, with special graphite surfacing. The graphite coating ensures a reduction in overall friction and also serves as a form of 'emergency coating' in case of heat-seizure or similar. Compared to the 10% heavier ASSO piston the Vertex has a shorter piston skirt, eliminating the need for extra modifications when fitting the kit in combination with a long-stroke crankshaft. The inclusion of a long-stroke type crankshaft complements the performance of this kit perfectly. The pistons port windows are also larger, better matching the existing channels. The transfer port dimensioning and port timings remain identical to those found on its predecessor, the 'Sport 2013' kit. When combined with a long-stroke crankshaft the port timings can be altered slightly, to affect the performance characteristics of this kit, with the use of the included compensatory gasket spacers. The inclusion of the cylinder base gasket spacers raises the maximum rpm and when using the cylinder head gasket spacers instead the total available torque is increased. The choice is yours!
Conclusion : If you are looking for an uncompromising cylinder for almost universal use, we can highly recommend the MALOSSI 210cc cylinders!
Aluminium / 68.5mm bore / 7 transfer ports / 210.06cc
Aluminium cylinder, 57mm stroke, 7 transfer ports, Vertex piston (224gr.) with 2 trapeze shaped piston rings and graphite coating, is also compatible with the MALOSSI HTSR (High Turbolence Squish Racing) cylinder head, compression ratio 12.5 : 1, includes cylinder base and head gasket spacers, SI carburettor 120 and 130 rated main jets are also included. The motor casings do not require prior modification to run this cylinder, although to realise the full potential of this kit it is recommended! Another recommendation is that MALOSSI say that this kit should be fitted in combination with the SIP fast flow fuel tap to avoid dangerous fuel starvation!
SIP-TIP : For safe and enduring use of this performance cylinder kit we recommend its combination with a W3CC spark plug, an 18° - 19° ignition timing, a SI 24/24E-G carburettor fitted with a 120-130 rated main-jet, a SIP Road exhaust or an Italian/British expansion chamber system such as SIP/JL/RZ, a Lusso III clutch, a racing and/or long-stroke crankshaft and last but not least – the SIP fast flow fuel tap!
Information : Due to the alarmingly generous manufacturing tolerances allowed by PIAGGIO in the production of their engines, the positioning of the cylinder studs can vary. This can become a major problem while attempting to mount the MALOSSI 210cc cylinder properly to find that it will not fit! PIAGGIO counter this by providing their original 200cc cylinders with 10mm mounting holes. The same holes on the MALOSSI kit are only 8mm in diameter. These abnormal motor-casings are impossible to identify by serial number so we recommend that you attempt to fit the cylinder to check before attempting to fully assemble your tuning project to check for compatibility. The only way around potential disappointment is available in the form of the PX 200 motor casings produced by MALOSSI themselves!
