The 'add on' capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) unit adaptor has been developed and produced by the 'Vollgas' (Full throttle) boys from near Lake Constance on the border of southern Germany. This CDI unit adaptor adjusts the ignition progressively with increasing revolutions of the motor, so enabling an optimal exploitation of the potential performance available.
This CDI unit adaptor is continuously variable in the area between 0.48 and 4.8 degrees/ 1000rpm. This enables the motor to produce a more consistent spread of power over the whole of the performance curve. The ignition can now be setup so that changing up through the gears from 3rd to 4th becomes almost effortless with the improved power delivery available in the mid rev range: if the engine revs are high, pre ignition is avoided and ignition related pinking noises eliminated. This product is handmade and is checked before delivery to ensure that it is in 100% working order.
This CDI unit adaptor contains electronic circuitry and should therefore be positioned where strong vibration and moisture can be avoided. An ideal place on your VESPA is next to the voltage regulator in the centre of the area where your spare wheel can be mounted. Due to the fact that the existing connections on this unit have tended to rattle loose in some cases in the past, they are now firmly soldered in place to prevent this.
Conclusion: Simple to install, does not take up too much unnecessary space and absolutely perfect to keep your engine performing at full throttle.
SIP-TIP: You will require a stroboscope in order to setup the ignition timing correctly. A suitable item is available at our shop (FS118600).
