The RZ has dominated the right-hand market for years. The Italian items never really represented any kind of comparison and this was the only handmade one being produced in Britain. We have now changed this state of affairs. Following the success of the SIP Performance 2.0 amongst the strongest of left-hand competitors, Jim Lomas presents us with this exhaust as a Right-hand.
The main body of the 'SIP Performance 2.0' has been completely redesigned and is now noticeably more voluminous. The larger dimensions still allow the use of the main stand and wider-section tyres. These systems are hand-welded at JL exhausts from either stainless or normal steel and then lacquered with a heat resistant varnish. The manifold is held in place at both ends by springs and the whole assembly is attached using a very solid mounting bracket that can withstand the vibrations caused by the silencer. This exhaust is compatible with both standard and tuned motors and according to set up, 18-32 PS and speeds of between 110 – 150 kph are easily achievable. This exhaust is available with a bolt-on carbon silencer or without silencer. Other SIP silencer units also combine well with this pipe, along with those produced by Scooter & Service. This model requires the laser-engraved logo on the silencer to be turned facing inwards to avoid being upside down, but nothing and nobody are perfect!
This performance enhancing system also provides large amounts of torque and its power delivery remains constant throughout the rev range. Its performance kicks in lower down the rev range than other comparable exhausts, such as those produced by Newline or DSE. There is no noticeable lapse in delivery all the way through to fourth gear, with a similar maximum power output.
This exhaust system can be mounted to Vespa Sprint/Rally/etc. models, but requires a few modifications to fit properly due to the side panels coming into contact with the silencer in certain circumstances.
JL Guarantee: An automatic 3-years warranty from date of purchase is included, for all original purchasers, if your exhaust splits open at any time during 'normal' use (apart from grinding it along the curb or similar abuse) it can be returned to the place of purchase for repair or replacement.
Conclusion: The 'SIP Performance 2.0' represents an ideal solution for both road-going, touring scooters and also high-end, maximum power projects. This is the most powerful exhaust system that we presently have available.
Racing Exhaust/ stainless or normal steel/ carbon fibre silencer/ right hand exit
Stainless steel or steel, mulit-segmented and hand-made, bolt-on silencer, right hand, rubber sheathed fixing springs. Can be combined with wider-section tyres, main stand use also still possible. Jetting and ignition timing should be checked and adjusted.
SIP-TIP: In combination with 139-177cc kits a 24mm carburettor and a taller transmission ratio are necessary. 200cc motor set ups will require a 10 sizes larger main jet. We recommend a MALOSSI 210, COSA clutch, race/ long stroke crankshaft and a modified cylinder head. VESPATRONIC, reed valve 30-36mm carburettor, flowed crankshaft etc. will bring the motor up to 30 PS.
