An unconventional power pack, this cylinder sharpens up your T5's sporting image. In contrast to the original T5 cylinder, this tuning goodie is trimmed for performance in lower ranges and can take your breath away with impressive starts.
POLINI has produced this beauty in their traditional manner with a cleanly finished cast iron cylinder with 6 transfers. The original PIAGGIO 125ccm cylinder, in comparison, is made of aluminum.
Still, the POLINI is fun to ride, and used in combination with the 24Si original carburetor, is problem free in town traffic. For trips out in the country or on the freeway a longer transmission, sport exhaust and larger carburetor 28mm+ is called for. A modified cylinder head is important for all versions. We recommend here the CNC milled Highlight from MMW. To increase necessary heat dispersion, we recommend spray painting your cylinder black. Same as the larger PX 208 POLINI or 210 MALOSSI, there are additional simple and effective methods to reduce weight using the lighter bi-conic GRAND SPORT gudgeon pin. Call it "light tuning" if you will, your original crank case will be grateful.
Conclusion:The price/performance winner for Vespa T5 models. Like all POLINI cylinders, hearty torque in lower ranges and noticeable performance from the get go. An improvement on the original T5 cylinder.
Cast iron/ 61mm bore/ 6 transfers/ 151.97ccm
Cast iron cylinder, 52mm stroke 6 transfers, piston with 2x 1.5mm piston rings, compression 11.4:1, exhaust width 58%, includes base gaskets. Plug & Play, in first step, modifications not necessary. Jets and ignition should be checked and optimized.
SIP TIP: modified original head or the optional MMW CNC cylinder head are a must. A noticeable performance increase possible with longer transmission, race exhaust such as SIP Performance and EVO, PM or SCORPION and 28er carburetor. For those wanting to carve out more power, the cylinder has potential. Due to the simple cast rings, don't go overboard with the exhaust ports width.
