Light motorcycles have been, since January 2013, no longer legally restricted to a maximum speed of 80 kph. This opens new possibilities as far as street legal tuning is concerned. Due to the fact that the original PIAGGIO PX 80 cylinders are no longer being produced, the choice when replacement was necessary, was restricted between a reconditioned original item or a performance cylinder with either 135 or 139cc. The second 'solution' provides a problem of legality if you only possess a driving licence which allows you to ride machines of up to 125cc.
An answer to this unfortunate circumstance is provided in the form of the new SERIE PRO performance cylinder produced by the people at EM. With the inclusion of suitable peripheral components in the complete set up of your motor, the power of the once humble Vespa PX 80 can be raised to a respectable 11 PS! This added power can facilitate top-speeds of up to 100 kph. To minimise its expansion during use the piston is constructed from an aluminium alloy containing a relatively high proportion of silicium, also ensuring minimal wear and a higher comparative durability.
ATTENTION : In order to mount this cylinder to the electric start version of the PX 80 it will require slight modification before fitting! As with most other motor modifications, your local vehicle inspector should be consulted/informed before this cylinder can legally be used in the set up of your scooter.
Cast iron / 48mm stroke / 57.3mm bore / 123.78cc
Cast iron performance cylinder, 48mm stroke, 57.3mm bore, special piston alloy with a very high proportion of silicium for maximum durability.
Conclusion: At last! Completely street-legal 'Plug and Play' cylinder tuning for the Vespa PX 80 models.
SIP-TIP : Do not forget to change the spark plug grade and increase the size of the main jet. An ideal set up would include a DELL'ORTO SI 24/24 carb, our very own SIP Road exhaust, and also a HP 4/PK ultra-lightweight flywheel.
