    This is in danger of looking and sounding like a very far fetched work of fiction BUT my brand new shiney P200 casngs were cracked in the crank mouth and have had to be welded and are awaiting CNC machining. NEW !!! I have been in touch with the supplying dealer and they deny all knowledge - despite the fact that the inlet had also been tuned prior to my ownership.

    I should but WILL NOT give up. Luck has to change somewhere eh ?

    argh! you do realize that if it were a horse, you would have to shoot it. who's the supplier? - i don't ever want to deal with them. and i vote, don't give up. you are in way way too deep to give up now. i'll try to send some more positive thoughts/energy your way. (or maybe you would be better off if i stopped?) keep me updated.

    2 hours of welding and 3 and a half hours on the CNC Mill, the casings are being fitted with the bearing in the morning and then either the laughter or tears or both can begin LOL

    DON"T THRASH THE FIRST DAY! (unless that means something else wherever you're at. that's not really a just rebuilt engine protocol where i'm at.) you're just getting it back together. be nice for atlease the first few days.

    The cylinder kit is broken in and proven already, its given me such hassle that I figure it deserves a thoroughly harsh thrashing !!  . . . . . . . . . . .ok, ok I'll play nice to begin with but day 2 is open season LOL.

    I took very easy for around 50 miles and it ran perfectly, filled up the tank and rode home. It felt as if it was seizing as I pulled into my road and I left it idling on the stand in my garage. Klunk ! Seized. The weld has failed and the crank seized, I did everything possible and was really sensible after the rebuild.

    I guess its back to the drawing board, I will be stripping it tonight to assess the salvage.

    For reasons that I can't explain, I have found the following:-

    1. the main weld held just fine

    2. an area just behind the inlet but not the sealing pad had a small section of ally peeled away, this had gone around the crank mouth destroying the sealing pad and badly scoring the inlet web of my crank. Both casings and crank are now only suitable for reedvalve conversion.

    3. replacement casing ordered , have seals and gaskets and can rescue the nearly new bearings from the old casing. Crank being sourced at the moment.

     

    Theres bad luck and then theres obscenely bad luck, I have to believe that mine will change soon. Sad

    Tension is mounting ! New casings are part built, waiting on delivery of a Mec Eur standard crank tomorrow, then finish the build and get it back in the frame and please god we are back in business Indifferent

    Its done, needs some small adjustments (gera cables etc ) and the carburation is going to be trial and error but we have transport . . and without tempting fate, it all seems good.

    without tempting fate... scoot well, my friend, scoot well. keep me updated.

    and if you get bored, can you take a look and see what parts and part numbers you can come up with for the 12"/gts "glorious basterd" conversion for my 09 stella 2t. i want to do the economy version (rear drum brake). check the posts and you'll see i've gotten some answer... but some of them conflict, some don't make sense, some seem incomplete, and some are telling me to get body parts that i really don't think i need to convert to the 12" wheels. i'm just trying to figure out what exactly, and completely, i need to order. also, no mention in the posts as to how to keep the speedo working correctly (in m.p.h. in my case) after the conversion. you know, that 12" conversion would work the same on your px as it would on my stella.

    The 12" conversion would screw with your speedo settings as you say but more importantly it would raise your transmission ratios massively as well , I can'y imagine it being a pleasant ride around town ?? The speedo can be replaced by a programmable unit as per some high end bicycles ?
